NYLC Brochure 2014

A brief history of how I got the privilege to design the NYLC Brochure in 2014. NYLC posted a pamphlet design contest online in 2011 and luckily my design won. From then on Ms. Barbara Dick, the Executive Director of the New York Language Center has been my client. I designed brochures, flyers, posters, web banners, and other printed collaterals for the company.

Barbara requested a brochure to showcase the institution’s courses, and how accessible they are with different campuses around New York City, and show how fun it is to be studying the English language. With more than 30 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language, NYLC has gained a reputation for providing high-quality education in a friendly and supportive environment at an affordable price.

Exploring our planet.

The world is full of amazing and beautiful places to explore and be part of an experience. Every place I visit, I learn more about the people and get to know, we are not that different from one another. We are connected.

Butterflies Inside

Meeting new people
For me, is never a ball
The butterflies inside
Flaps and makes me hide.

Just walking into a room
Poor butterflies meet their doom
As my confidence in me sinks
Denying what people think.

It is so hard to be true
For just simply being you
The butterflies inside
Seems, they just died.

I dreamt of the time
When I wake, all is fine
The butterflies will fly away
The world will know, I am gay.

Happy Birthday

Today is your 30th birthday,
A wonderful life for you I pray.
Gone are the days of come what mays,
Plan and succeed to have your own way.

Now begins the time of your life,
When all your dreams are realized.
Keep staying on the right path,
For this is the only life you’ve got.

Your family – the source of your strength,
For them, you are really heaven-sent.
Your friends value your friendship,
For they will never have another who cares so deeply.

I am one of those very lucky and grateful people,
You have touched with your heart and soul.
And my three wishes for you my friend,
Happiness, peace, and love beyond the end.

Taken

I am not supposed to care
But I just want to be fair
Just be honest with you
I am starting to like you.

I should try to forget you
But what I feel I can’t undo
Because if I let you go
I’ll really miss you so.

You make me so happy
So beautiful and so lovely
You are the sun that wakes me
Though I know you are not free.

And I am wishing it’s not too late
Coz I want to ask you out on a date
You are already taken, it’s true
I am also taken…by you.

I Will Shelter You

I don’t know how your life was,
All that matters, it’s all in the past.
If those ghosts come haunting you,
I am here to shelter you.

I may never be a superhero.
Got no powers to fend you from your foes.
But if danger surrounds you,
I am here to shelter you.

I may not know how you are,
But always remember I am not far.
And if ever trouble finds you,
I am here to shelter you.

I can’t see what tomorrow may bring,
All I can promise you is this one thing.
My heart and soul are keeping you,
Because I am here to shelter you.

The Way You Make Me Feel

I never expected to feel this way,
Being with you in just a day.
Curiosity got the best of me,
Thinkin’ if this is meant to be.

I made a promise to give my heart a rest,
‘Til I’ve figured out what to do next.
Forgive me for the wrong that cannot be undone,
Those people I have hurt are long gone.

But maybe the heavens have a special plan,
That it’s time for me to have some fun.
I have never given up on love just yet,
It’s just so hard to let go and forget.

I’ve caused special people in my past so much pain,
That I know I don’t deserve to be in love again.
I am not trying to scare you away,
But in spite of this, you might want to stay.

I won’t lie to you, I’ve felt this way before,
That’s why I am so scared to open that door.
Feeling this happy I know is heaven-sent,
Having you in my life ..even just for a moment.
